Nicolas Lambouris is a visual artist and researcher whose practice investigates the intersections of cultural systems, and the politics of representation. Drawing on art history, archaeology, historiography, and cultural anthropology, his work examines the mechanisms through which images, objects, and sites acquire meaning as multifaceted cultural signifiers. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in both private and public art collections, while his projects have been published by La Fábrica, IAPT Press, MUSA Eretz Israel Museum Tel-Aviv, and Yard Press. Lambouris has presented extensively at conferences and artist talks on the interdisciplinary and critical study of photography and visual culture, with his writings appearing in the journals Photographies and Membrana. He has participated in residency and artistic programs at Barco Galeria Arquitectura – Las Cruces (CL), Koraï Project Space (CY) and ABR/CRASSH, University of Cambride (UK). Currenlty, he serves as President of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Photography & Theory [IAPT] and as Director of the PFM [Photography. Film + Media. Lab]. He lives and works in Nicosia, Cyprus, where he is a faculty member at Frederick University.
