Nicolas Lambouris is a visual artist and researcher. His work focuses on issues of collective memory, cultural identity, and the politics of representation, while drawing on sociology, archaeology, historiography, and cultural anthropology as subjects to explore the capacity and the mechanisms through which images, objects, and sites manifest as diverse cultural signifiers. Lambouris’ work has been exhibited internationally, it is part of private and state art collections and has been published by La Fabrica, IAPT Press and Yard Press. Lambouris is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Photography & Theory [IAPT], and the director of UNIT [Photography. Film+Media. Center]. He has participated in several conferences dedicated to the interdisciplinary and critical exploration of photography and visual culture and has text contributions in the scholarly journal Photographies and Membrana. He lives and works in Nicosia (CY) where he is a Faculty member at the School of Arts, Communication & Cultural Studies, Frederick University.
